I bought the 4 piece option of this item. It is advised to eat or freeze within 14 days. I ate 2 within 72 hours, the other two, I did not get to unit about day 10. When I went to prepare them, 1 of them must have not had a tight vacuum seal, air had gotten into it and it was not pretty. I had bought a few other things besides these and everything was really good, including these, so I didn't make a fuss about it. Only sharing this because I would recommend either eating within 72 hours of arrival or putting them in the freezer straight away. The Torchon froze/un-frooze and served beautifully, so I assume these would too.
So this is my 3rd slice of foie gras; I cooked the 1st two at Christmas holidays time, and they were good, but things were a little hectic and I didn't take the time to enjoy them as much as I should have; I was hostessing. But last night for Valentine's Day, I sauteed them hot hot hot as directed having scored and seasoned, and served it sliced with a hot pepper peach homemade jelly on arugala with toast rounds; perfect prelude to filet mignon Diane (sous vide, seared with peppercorns, cognac, cream)....oh my gosh, a great meal. Braised carrots and slow browned shitakes on the side. One chocolate chip cookie for dessert.
My family loves to make these as an appetizer for special occasions. Product came very well packaged. Customer service is FANTASTIC! Will be purchasing from here again.
I love pan seared foie gras paired with a pan seared duck breast. Classic pairing and nothing better:) served with a black berry gastric, seared polenta and roasted beets. Comes frozen so you can keep in freezer for a special dinner:) highly recommended.
